Sean E. Stevens, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist with a private practice in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his Bachelor's degree in Theology and English from Loyola University of Chicago, with a minor in Philosophy. He obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He also completed 2/3rd of a Master's in Divinity with a minor in New Testament Studies at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, before leaving the seminary to pursue a married vocation.
Dr. Stevens has been in practice for 20 years, specializing in trauma, anxiety, depression, and couples counseling. He is trained in EMDR and other modalities of trauma therapy. While he is happy to work with clients of faith or no faith, he is able to incorporate his substantial background in theology, Scripture, and Catholic Christian spirituality into therapy for clients who desire this.
Dr. Stevens' blog, "Transfigured Heart", explores the intersection between psychology and Catholic Christianity, especially as they relate to our current cultural milieu. He is passionately convinced that Jesus Christ is the key to all of the deepest desires of the human heart. His writing concretizes how Christ-centered therapy can lead to deep, life-giving emotional and spiritual transformation.
Dr. Stevens loves classical and folk rock music, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Dad jokes. Rocky Mountain National Park, a scant eight hours drive away, is his favorite place on Earth. Most of all, he enjoys time with his lovely wife, Mary, awesome son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Grace, and their ever-more-adorable new arrival, Peter Angelico.
